Kids Health: There’s An App for That

November 11, 2014

University of Illinois researchers suggest that physical activity boosts academic performance, so if kids want to stay at the head of the class and keep health and fitness a top priority, there is an app for that.

The Smash Your Food app makes a guessing game of learning caloric content of foods. Kids watch a HD video of high-calories foods being smashed, guess the amount of sugar, sodium and oil, and then pull a lever to reveal the right answers.

The app was created by Marta De Wulf, a private-practice nutritionist who was the winner in first lady Michelle Obama’s Apps for Healthy Kids contest in 2010. -
